helping you find a mental healthcare professional

William ContiI offer depth-oriented, analytic therapy from a Jungian perspective while weaving in Cognitive-Behavioral elements. I believe that “symptoms” such as depression, anxiety, grief & loss, career and relationship issues often present as the “call” from psyche, announcing the beginning of movement to another level of meaning and consciousness. Psychic and emotional upheaval can serve as portals to the next journey of self-discovery which awaits most of us as we progress through life. The depth approach, which usually includes dream work, can help to increase our capacity to host states which may be difficult to bear alone.

I view myself as a guide and partner with my patients in holding the space wherein self-discovery and growth can occur. I have facilitated individual, child, couples’ and family therapy for over ten years along with my work with the Gay & Lesbian community. I also sometimes incorporate play therapy, Sandplay Therapy, and other creative modalities into the work.

I was the psych-social case manager at the West Hawaii AIDS Foundation on the Big Island of Hawaii where I facilitated individual, couples, and group therapy for individuals, significant others, and families of people affected by HIV/AIDS. Of course, addressing ffects of the disease itself constituted only a part of a wholistic approach to my patients’ lives which included family-of-origin issues, finances, housing, job/career stressors, relationship issues, coming out, self-esteem, spirituality, anxiety, and depression. I continue to work with the GLBTQQI community whether individuals are involved in HIV/AIDS or not.

G. Michael Scott, MFT

G Michael Scott MFT San Diego TherapistI believe people thrive when they feel happy with themselves. From this fundamental place, a life of purpose and creativity flows naturally. A clear sense of belonging is nurtured with friends and family. Feeling loved and loving is the most meaningful way to live. Feeling confident in facing pain, frustration and disappointment enriches us. Individuals and couples often seek psychotherapy when their desires do not match what is actually happening for them.

I enjoy working with individuals and couples who have a great desire to heal emotional wounds which when ignored, often lead to many painful symptoms and debilitating conditions. We are meant to grow and evolve psychologically and emotionally. Persons and couples who present with anxiety, depression, sexual problems, communication difficulties, spiritual emptiness are welcome.
